Student Cellos

The phrase ‘Student Cellos’ may conjure up thoughts of ‘inexpensive’ and ‘cheap’ but beware – have you read our article on VSO’s? The same applies to cellos!

We do not stock instruments below a certain price point which we deem to be detrimental to a students progress – Craftsmanship is poor, tonewoods are poor, its hard to tune and it is an altogether off-putting experience.

At Caswells Strings, we have a strict set up policy so even if a Cello is classified as a Student Cello or an entry level cello, we still believe it needs to be set up properly to ensure it is playing properly and encouraging the student to keep going.

Although not definitive we expect Student Cellos to be suitable to achieve the first 3 grades or, with upgraded strings, perhaps the first 4.
