Because the finish has a great effect on the instrument’s tone, extra time and effort was taken testing various formulas and checking the results with acoustic measurements to develop an original oil finish that brings out the best tone. Applied by hand to maximise its affect, the finish enhances the instrument’s response and articulation while adding a beautiful glossy appearance.

Tuning for beginners can be a frustrating experience, so to make tuning as easy as possible, the tailpieces incorporate Wittner adjusters on all strings that make fine adjustments to pitch easy.

The outfit includes everything the beginner needs. Cases are made of lightweight materials and include two straps to make carrying easy.

Yamaha VA7SG Viola Outfit set-up by Caswells Strings | Instruments not properly set up can have a detrimental effect on the players progress, even leading to the player being put off for life. We operate a strict policy of setting up every instrument, regardless of level, to exact standards and specifications. A set-up in our workshop includes shaping and cutting the bridge, lubricating the pegs, rosining the bow and adjusting the soundpost. Instruments are shipped with the bridges up.
