Five Fantasy Pieces for solo cello by Nicola Tait Baxter.
Nicola writes:
Whilst searching for a contrasting addition to an unaccompanied programme, I surprised myself at how much I enjoyed the process of imagining, exploring, and writing an expressive piece for my solo instrument. After a little performance success and some well needed encouragement from friends, I decided to write a few more.
It seemed these were remarkably effective pieces for honing technique, building more expression into my playing and useful to work with my advanced cello students, encouraging them to broaden their imaginative playing and palette of tonal colours. Cellists will explore a range of technical skills in all octaves.
