This model is the viola of choice by many schools and education authorities up and down the country given the quality of workmanship and the sound it produces. It is hand carved from quality tonewoods, has blackened hardwood fittings and a tailpiece with integral adjusters.

The Stentor Student 1 Viola Outfit is set up standard with factory fitted strings but we offer the option here of upgrading to branded set of quality strings, the two most popular being D’Addario Prelude or Ascente. Upgrading the strings will further enhance the sound of the instrument.

Available in: 12”, 13”, 14”, 15”, 15.5”and 16”. The next level up in the Stentor range is the Stentor Student II with ebony fittings.

Stentor Student 1 Viola Outfit set-up by Caswells Strings | We don’t sell different levels of set-up – we believe every instrument should have a gold set-up as standard, not something you have to pay for! Instruments not properly set up can have a detrimental effect on the players progress, even leading to the player being put off for life. At Caswells we operate a strict policy of setting up every instrument, regardless of level, to exact standards and specifications. This includes cutting the bridge and top nut, setting the soundpost, and lubricating the pegs. Instruments are shipped with the bridges up.
