Yes, you can, but it is recommended that a bridge be professionally fitted. Unfortunately, there is a lot more involved with bridge fitting than just simply plopping it into place. A Violin bridge for example comes as a blank which is almost always too high and thick. Additionally, the feet will be flat and will not fit curvature of your violin – this because curve varies greatly from instrument to instrument. At the top of the bridge the curve will be too flat to enable the bow to move smoothly from string to string.
When our Luthier fits a bridge, he will correct all of these issues, fine tuning the bridge to your individual instrument. You will need to leave the instrument with us. So yes, you can buy a bridge – but we cannot ‘pre-fit’ a bridge and send it by mail!
